A lot of people talk about picking up content from article sites such as goarticles.com, but if a half dozen websites have used that content doesn’t using that content actually pull down your website ranking?
Also, we have used content on Ebay with similar content to our website; is this also a no-no?

Due to the fact that people just copy these “articles” from sites and make full sites out of them, the search engines are wise to all that now and penalise websites who copy content.
I would work on making your own content in your own words then when Google crawls your site it will find fresh content, Google loves fresh, new, unique content so copying is not a option now.
