Google Analytics can hurt your site rankings???

heard that Google Analytics can actually negatively hurt your rankings as it collects data and knows if people stay at your site or leave right away.

I was ranked on the first page of Google for a term for a long time, and then once I put on Analytics I dropped to page 29!

I found a thread on the net about Google using Analytics data in calculating ranking positions, especially Bounce Rate.

Any comments on this?

If you speak with a Google engineer they say they don’t use individual GA data as a ranking component. This makes sense because for any given search term the number of sites actually using GA will be very small indeed even zero in most cases. There will be no possibility to make a comparison if there is no data. However I am sure the data is aggregated by Google and used to learn more about user behavior in general but not for individual sites.
